About The Movie

AYAANLE is the story of a 21-year-old Somali boy named Ayaanle, living in Nairobi who aspires to become a world famous actor and reach Hollywood. Despite coming from an impoverished background, he remains optimistic about his dream of making it in the film industry and hopes to emulate his hero Denzel Washington. His life is turned upside down after a series of unlikely and unfortunate events, catapulting him into a dramatic showdown with nefarious characters, corrupt police and anti terror unit.
It all starts when he loses his family’s money to corrupt police. In his desperation to recover the lost money Ayaanle is convinced by a friend to hoodwink an international news crew struggling to find interviews of real terrorists. Ayaanle uses his acting skills to play the role of a convincing terrorist willing to talk for money. Unfortunately for Ayaanle, this is where his life begins to unravel as he is soon at the mercy of the crooked policemen and other underhanded characters. Left with no options, he is forced to defy all the odds in an attempt to save his life.
The film is a rollercoaster ride of interconnected events that lead Ayaanle down a deep rabbit hole. The further he goes down, the harder it is for him to climb back out. Each decision he makes has far-reaching effects and we are with him along his journey from start to end.

It’s a story by an African Director, with an African cast and told from an African perspective. For the look and feel for the film we wanted to create something that is distinctly Nairobi, incorporating elements of the sights and sounds of the city. It is important that stories like this are told away from the existing global prejudice regarding young people in Africa.
Ayaanle is an exciting movie with many twists and turns and a suspenseful drama with gripping tension from start to end.
